Buying industrial machinery in another country can offer more choices, but the buyer must verify the exact machine, condition, seller and total cost to deliver and commission it. A lower price abroad may be offset by repairs, international freight or compliance work.
Inspect used machinery before arranging international transport
Request the manufacturer, model, serial number, actual condition, photographs, repair history, operating hours where relevant, safety information and a demonstration or independent inspection if practical. For high-value equipment, agree who has access to the site and when removal is permitted.
Confirm seller identity and purchase documents
Verify who owns and invoices the machine, the equipment description, currency, payment terms, documentary requirements and any applicable taxes or customs procedures. If banking details change, verify instructions independently.
Compare overseas freight and loading
Obtain packaging or machine dimensions, weight, loading instructions, insurance conditions, origin and destination, any transport permits and unloading arrangements. Record responsibilities in writing and clarify any Incoterms used.
