Used Komatsu Excavators: Check Operating Hours, Wear and Prices
A used Komatsu excavator must be evaluated by model, serial number, recorded hours, maintenance, operating condition, undercarriage and hydraulic performance. Hour-meter readings alone do not prove the machine’s complete history.
Why excavator hours matter — and what they do not prove
Hours may indicate how long the machine has operated but do not show load history, idle time, repairs or operating conditions. Compare the meter with documented maintenance and the physical condition of the undercarriage, pins, bushings, slew system and engine.
Checks before buying a used Komatsu excavator
- Manufacturer model, serial number, year and machine identification
- Hour meter and any service or diagnostic records available
- Track links, rollers, sprockets, idlers, tyres or other wear components as appropriate
- Leaks, hydraulic hoses, cylinder condition, response and operating pressures where tested
- Engine start, emissions or fault codes, cooling and electrical systems
- Boom, dipper, bucket, quick coupler, attachments and structural condition
- Safety controls, manuals, maintenance history and parts availability
A working demonstration or independent technical inspection is valuable for an expensive machine. Physical wear alone cannot establish whether an hour meter has been altered.
Komatsu models and different operating classes
Models such as the PC55, PC88, PC138, PC210, PC220, PC240, PC290, PC360 or PC490 refer to equipment of different size classes. Compare the exact machine’s operating weight, digging depth, reach, hydraulics and attachments. A model number should not be used as a substitute for its technical sheet.
Current price comparison instead of generic euro ranges
Find dated offers of the same or technically equivalent model and operating class, with known hours, age, equipment, condition and location. Include applicable taxes, inspection, repairs, loading, freight, unloading and commissioning. Old generic price ranges are not a reliable current quotation.
