Buying industrial machinery with after-sales service

When you buy industrial machinery, the availability of warranty support, spare parts, manuals and technical assistance can matter as much as the purchase price. Compare machinery suppliers by the exact service terms included with the machine, not by generic promises of fast repairs or unlimited coverage.

Compare machines before requesting a quotation

Explore metalworking machinery, woodworking equipment, agricultural machines and industrial cleaning machines. Each product has its own manufacturer and conditions. Request after-sales information for the exact model you intend to buy.

1. What should a machinery warranty cover?

Before paying, request a written statement of the warranty period, start date, covered components, exclusions, labour costs, travel, transport of defective components and the process for making a claim. Coverage for a new machine may differ from that for a used or refurbished unit and varies between sellers and countries.

2. Spare parts and consumables

Ask for availability of critical spare parts and consumables, such as belts, bearings, cutting tools, filters, seals, pumps, motors and electronic components where applicable. Check part numbers and expected lead times. A machine that is inexpensive to purchase but difficult to repair can become costly when production stops.

3. Installation, training and commissioning

Check the electrical supply, air, water, drainage, extraction and floor-space requirements before ordering. Confirm whether commissioning, operator training and initial calibration are included in the quote or charged separately. For large machinery, transport, unloading and access to the premises must also be agreed.

4. Technical documentation and safety

Review the model’s operating manual, maintenance schedule, safety instructions and applicable conformity documentation. Ensure the equipment can be installed and used safely for the intended task. Never assume all machines sold by different suppliers have the same documentation or support arrangements.

5. Examples of machinery where support matters

6. Evaluate the total cost of owning the machine

In addition to the machine price, include taxes, loading, transport, installation, consumables, energy use, routine maintenance, downtime risk and any optional warranty or service contract. Compare offers that include equivalent equipment and support levels.

Questions to ask before buying

Is manufacturer after-sales support automatically included?

No universal commitment applies to all Makitor products. Confirm the actual terms, supplier and service location for the listed machine before purchase.

Can spare parts be shipped internationally?

Availability and shipping depend on the manufacturer, the part and the country of delivery. Request confirmation for critical components in advance.

What information should I include in a purchase enquiry?

Send the machine model, intended use, delivery destination, site electrical supply and any required services. This helps the supplier prepare a comparable quotation.
